The Logical Framework Approach to community development builds on, and compliments, the skills which many people involved in development planning and public services already have.
LFA has been adopted, as a planning and management tool by a significant number of organisations involved in Development Assistance. These include the British DFID, Canada's CIDA, the OECD Expert Group on Aid Evaluation, the International Service for National Agricultural Research (ISNAR), Australia's AusAID and Germany's GTZ. AusAID has been using LFA as a formal part of its activity cycle management procedures since the mid-1980s.
What is so powerful about the methodology used in LFA is that the process is so fundamentally logical that it can be applied in a wide range of development scenarios.
It enables both facilitators and participants to strip away the complexity and distractions which plague many development initiatives while involving, in a participatory way, a wide range of stakeholders.
